A proposal has been made to the Mayor of New York to increase awareness about drug and alcohol issues in our community. One proposal is to educate high school students and parents in an after school program about how to prevent the use of drugs and alcohol. The other proposal is to provide treatment centers to help people stop drug and alcohol use.
The first proposal is to educate high school students and parents in after school program about how to prevent the use of drugs and alcohol. Why? Peer pressure makes the majority of students vulnerable to use drugs and alcohol.
2- Teaching teenagers in school about the dangers of using drugs and alcohol can help them to avoid addiction in the future by gives them speeches and takes them to hospitals and jails to show people that are affected.
3- Having good communication between parent and children could help them prevent the use of drug and alcohol.

The second proposal is to provide treatment centers to help people stop the use of drugs and alcohol. Why?
1- Building a treatment center in our community will help drug and alcohol users stay away from crimes because most of the people who are drug and alcohol users try to satisfy their addiction no matter what happens.
2- The drug and alcohol treatment centers can offer group counseling that will provide help to addicts to have better lives where addicts can talk about why they are involved in vicious cycles. Also, they can provide job opportunities or volunteer jobs that they can receive a little amount of money to try to keep them in the programs.
3- The treatment centers will decrease the number of users in the community. People can learn the consequences of these addictions which it affects their families. Also keeping their mind actives could help a lot.
