Jay Yarow joins the pile on of the new Samsung Fascinate (when did smartphone names get so crappy?) and Verizon’s decision to make Bing the only search engine option. Verizon goes as far as blocking the Google Search widget from the app store.

“This is the risk of offering an ‘open’ mobile operating system for Google,” he writes.

I’m not so worried about Google — they’ll be just fine. But I am worried about consumers, who just might opt for this Android phone because it ostensibly represents more choice and openness than its competitors.

Instead, folks will have get used to staring at that damn “bing” icon every day of their Samsung-owning lives.
